Meet The Doctor

  • Dr. Karl Breuckmann

    Dr. Karl Breuckmann was born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri. He grew up playing several sports as a child.  You name it, he probably tried it.  While attending Benton High School, he focused on basketball, track, Olympic weightlifting, and academics. Senior year, his basketball and track teams both finished 2nd in State.  He was voted president of both his class and the National Honor Society.  He also finished as a 5-time undefeated AAU/USA Junior Olympic Champion.

    After graduating salutatorian of his high school class, Dr. Breuckmann attended the University of Missouri - Columbia.  While at Mizzou, he stayed very active, refereeing intramural sports, serving as a chemistry teaching assistant and attending the Pre-Dental club.  He graduated with honors from Mizzou with a degree in Biochemistry.  Following graduation, he chose to attend the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Dentistry.  

    After earning his dental degree from UMKC School of Dentistry, Dr. Breuckmann accepted an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor at UMKC School of Dentistry.  He served several roles while teaching at UMKC.  He served as a Generalist on the clinic floor, assisted with Emergency Clinic, and facilitated the Clinical Outreach Program – overseeing dental students treating children in the underserved areas of Missouri. 

    In addition to his teaching duties at UMKC, Dr. Breuckmann also served as an associate dentist in private practice, caring for patients in both Sweet Springs, MO and Higginsville, MO.  Furthermore, he chose to serve his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force Reserve.  He was stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base, home of the B2 Stealth Bomber. Dr. Breuckmann enjoyed his time in the Air Force, once spending two weeks in El Salvador on a humanitarian mission.  He was the officer in charge of overseeing the dental unit, where they removed over one thousand teeth in just 10 days.  For his exemplary leadership, he was awarded a Humanitarian Medal of Achievement.

    Following his UMKC and Air Force appointments, he went into full-time private practice in Overland Park, Kansas.  He served as an associate dentist for 5 years, before acquiring his current practice in Olathe, Kansas.

    Dr. Breuckmann spends over 30 hours each year involved in continuing dental education, to keep current in dentistry.  In addition to his work with local dental study clubs, he is a member of the American Dental Association, the Kansas Dental Association, and the Fifth District Dental Society of Kansas.

    He is a father of four children – Abby, Drake, Quin, and Karli.  Abby has a 1-year-old daughter, Leia, who keeps everyone busy!  Drake attends KU, Karli is a sophomore at Mizzou, and Quin will be graduating from Blue Valley West in May 2024!

    If you ever catch him out of the office, chances are he’s golfing with his friends, traveling for golf or at a concert!  He will challenge anyone to a game of Music Bingo or Trivia!  He is a die-hard Chiefs fan, having season tickets for over 25 years and has been to every Royals Home Opener since 1995!
